Robert Rias, Omari Pitts, Domonic Adams Jr. Killed In Fontana Crash; 3 Injured

Two-vehicle crash occurs during police pursuit in North Hollywood, leaving two injured.

Fontana, CA (February 5, 2024) Sadness blankets the community of Rialto following a collision that claimed the lives of three teenagers and left three other people injured. The heavy loss is felt by the families of Robert Rias, 15, Omari Pitts, 15, and Domonic Adams Jr., who was only 14 years old. Two police officers were also seriously injured in this collision while just trying to do their jobs. One senseless act, in the form of a 20-second pursuit, changed the lives of so many on Saturday night, February 3rd.

It was a normal Saturday night in Fontana when police officers attempted to pull over a white Nissan Sentra for vehicle code violations. Officers expected it to simply be a routine traffic stop, but things escalated quickly. Instead of pulling over, the driver of the Nissan sped away from officers at approximately 10:44 p.m. The driver reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour, according to police officers. The pursuit only lasted about 20 seconds before the driver lost control of the Nissan and slammed into a police car on Cypress Avenue and Valley Boulevard.

The Nissan was driving at such a high speed that it, as well as the police cruiser, were totaled in the collision. Two police officers were in the police car at the time of the crash and both sustained serious injuries, Officer Steven Reed said.

Emergency personnel arrived to find a heartbreaking scene. Two teenagers, identified as Rias and Adams Jr., did not survive the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger, identified as Pitts, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he passed away at the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the Nissan was also seriously injured and taken to the hospital to receive treatment. He is now the only person who occupied the Nissan to survive this fatal collision.

The two police officers were also taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Officer Steven Reed reported that one of the officers has been released from the hospital, but the other one remains hospitalized following this accident.

The three teenagers who were so tragically killed in this collision were students at Carter High School in Rialto. It is a time of sorrow throughout the high school halls right now as teenagers mourn the loss of three of their peers.

All of us at Accident News Now extend our deepest condolences to the families of Robert Rias, Omari Pitts and Domonic Adams Jr, during this difficult time.
