Pieces of debris, both big and small, littered the roadway in every direction. Paramedics hurried to the vehicles to see if anyone needed medical assistance. Inside the Nissan, they found the man and the woman both unresponsive. Officials said they had received fatal injuries in the accident and they were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Three children were found in the backseat of the vehicle, ranging from 2 months old to 10 years old. All three had sustained significant injuries in the accident, but were alive. Officers did their best to comfort the children as paramedics loaded all three into ambulances and rushed them to a local hospital to receive treatment.

The driver of the Lexus was also found alive, but he too, had sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was carefully removed from his vehicle and placed on a stretcher before being rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Officers investigated the scene and reported that they believe alcohol may have been a factor in this traumatic accident. Tow trucks had to come to the scene and haul the destroyed vehicles away and crews grabbed their brooms and cleaned up the glass and debris from the highway.
