Kearny Mesa, CA (July 19, 2024) Four people were tragically killed in a crash in Kearny Mesa this morning.
California Highway Patrol was alerted to the collision at about 1:30 a.m. When they arrived at the scene on southbound Interstate 163, they found two Toyota Priuses, multiple people lying in the road, and a Toyota Tacoma flipped over.
All four victims were occupants of the first Toyota Prius. They were all ejected from the vehicle when they were rear-ended by the Tacoma, causing the Prius to veer out of control and crash. Then, a second Prius crashed into the other vehicles.
Paramedics pronounced two victims dead at the scene. Two more were rushed to the hospital, where they sadly succumbed to their injuries. The driver of both the Tacoma and the second Prius were arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Update (July 23): The four victims of the collision have been identified as Faruk Cetin, 27, Mahsun Dursun, 23, Abdurrezak Hizmali, 27, and Baris Savas, 25.
