Las Vegas, NV (May 5, 2024) A chaotic scene unfolded in South Las Vegas on Friday evening when two vehicles collided. The accident left six people with injuries, one of whom was left in critical condition, officers reported. The incident occurred at the intersection of West Spring Valley Parkway South and South Rainbow Boulevard, mere minutes before 8:00 p.m. Officers reported that after the two vehicles collided, one of them hit a third vehicle that was sitting at a red light.
Motorists drove through South Las Vegas, heading to and from destinations on Friday evening, May 3rd. Just before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Spring Valley Parkway South and South Rainbow Boulevard, two vehicles slammed into each other in the middle of the intersection. The impact from the crash sent one of the vehicles towards cars sitting at a red light. It crashed into one of the vehicles before coming to a stop, reports indicated.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the three damaged vehicles in and near the intersection. Paramedics rushed to evaluate the vehicles’ occupants and found a 78-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was quickly loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. Two others, both 77 years old, were also taken to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics then found three others who had minor injuries and treated them at the scene.
Investigators searched the scene, gathered evidence and took statements from those involved as well as witnesses. Officers do not believe that impairment was a factor in this collision. Officers said that everyone involved was very patient and cooperative during the investigation. Crews cleared the scene of glass and debris and a tow truck was called to remove at least one of the vehicles from the intersection. Officers reported that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine what exactly happened and who was at fault.
