Two Injured, Abel S. Navarrete Killed In Victorville Collision

5 killed in Littlerock crash on Pearblossom Highway.

Victorville, CA (March 31, 2024) Businesses on Amargosa Road in Victorville were surprised on Saturday afternoon, March 30th, when two vehicles collided so hard that it rattled buildings’ windows. The two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 2;20 p.m. on Amargosa Road near the intersection of Ramada Drive. Three people were trapped inside of their vehicles and two of those people sustained serious injuries, officers said. The third person, 22-year-old Abel S. Navarrete, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A burgundy Infiniti Sedan was heading north as it neared a gray 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling south. Suddenly, the Infiniti crossed the double yellow lines and slammed into the Tahoe. People who worked in offices on the road told police officers that the collision was so loud that it rattled their windows, startling them.

Employees with Victorville City Public Works arrived at the scene and put up barricades and road closure signs on Amargosa Road between Civic Drive and Palmdale Road. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the road with severe damage. The Infiniti sedan was completely smashed and destroyed following the accident.

Firefighters found two men trapped inside the sedan and the driver of the Tahoe was also trapped. They had to use the jaws of life to remove the people from their vehicles, authorities reported. All three people were rushed to a local hospital via ambulance. One person was airlifted from the hospital to a trauma center for treatment, officers said. Sadly, Navarrete, an occupant of the sedan, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives got to work gathering evidence at the scene and spoke to witnesses. They are determined to figure out what exactly happened on Amargosa Road in Victorville. Crews cleaned up the debris and glass left behind by the collision and tow trucks were called to haul the two damaged vehicles from the area.
