Two Injured In Fiery North Hollywood Two-Vehicle Collision

1 killed in multi-vehicle crash on the Riverside (91) Freeway.

North Hollywood, CA (April 14, 2024) A police chase turned into a fiery collision, injuring an innocent person, as well as the suspect, on Wednesday, April 10th. Police officers were pursuing a suspect when they crashed into another vehicle on Emelita Street in North Hollywood, just before 1:00 p.m., officers said.

Officers saw a gray BMW run a red light at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Sheldon Street. They turned on their flashing lights and attempted to pull over the driver. Instead of pulling over, as law requires, the driver continued driving and refused to pull over for police officers. The BMW picked up speed in an attempt to outrun the police car, officers said. In the 12000 block of West Emelita Street, the BMW collided with another vehicle and immediately burst into flames, reports indicated.

The pursuing officer called for paramedics to come to the scene following this collision. Emergency medical personnel arrived and firefighters quickly put out of the flames. They found the driver of the fleeing vehicle with serious injuries and removed him from the car. The other vehicle involved had sustained serious damage. Paramedics found a female driver who had also sustained serious injuries in the collision. Both people were taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance to receive treatment for their injuries.

Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove both vehicles from the roadway as crews cleaned up glass and debris. The driver of the BMW now faces several charges following this collision.
