Fernley, NV (October 25, 2024) A collision between two vehicles claimed the lives of two people in Fernley. The deadly accident occurred just after 2:00 p.m., where U.S. 50 and Wedge Lane intersect, according to reports.
Initial reports indicated that an SUV and a silver pickup truck collided at the intersection for unknown reasons. The accident caused the two damaged vehicles to block the roadway and sent debris flying in every direction.
Officers with the Nevada State Police were the first to arrive at the scene. They found the two vehicles, both with major damage, sitting in the middle of the roadway in a field of debris. Officers hurried to the vehicles in search of anyone who might need medical attention. Sadly, they found the two occupants of the pickup truck with fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene and officers requested a coroner. The driver of the SUV had been injured in the collision and was transported to a hospital in the area by an ambulance.
Investigators gathered evidence at the scene and are working to determine what exactly happened in Fernley on Thursday afternoon. They are also working to uncover who was responsible for this deadly collision. Tow trucks had to remove both damaged vehicles, following the investigation, and crews worked as quickly as they could to remove the debris from the roadway.
