Coalinga, CA (October 24, 2024) An expectant mother is mourning the loss of her unborn child as she heals from her own injuries, following a multi-vehicle collision in Coalinga. The tragic accident happened on October 11th, 2024, on Interstate 5.

It was a Friday morning in Coalinga as traffic flowed along Interstate 5 at a steady pace. Suddenly, vehicles began slowing down as traffic increased. Among the vehicles was a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, which couldn’t slow down in time. It ended up colliding with a 2022 Subaru Forester, which then slammed into a 2017 GMC Yukon. The Subaru became sandwiched between the Hyundai and the GMC, according to reports.

First responders arrived at the scene and found a pregnant woman inside the Subaru with life-threatening injuries, a possible concussion and facial trauma. She was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Sadly, the unborn baby was killed in the collision, officers reported. The woman remains in the hospital, recovering from serious injuries and mourning the tragic loss of her child.
