Silver Lake Restaurant Owner, Maria Esther Valdivia, Tragically Killed in Echo Park Collision

Pedestrian Fatal Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Echo Park ID'd as Silver Lake Restaurateur LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles, CA (May 30, 2023) The coroner’s office officially identified Maria Esther Valdivia, a 74-year-old woman killed in a vehicle collision in Echo Park as the proprietor of a well-liked Silver Lake restaurant.

Maria Esther Valdivia, a Los Angeles resident, was struck by a 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 while crossing the intersection of Scott Avenue and Glendale Boulevard on the afternoon of May 22.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the car was moving westward on Scott Avenue and turning onto Glendale Boulevard. Police stated that the driver, who exhibited no impairment, halted to assist Valdivia and cooperated with the investigation.

After the incident, paramedics transported Valdivia to a hospital, where she passed away three days later. Valdivia, co-founder and owner of the Silver Lake-based Tacos Delta restaurant leaves behind her husband Sergio, their four children, 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A post on the restaurant’s Instagram page depicted Valdivia as a loving family woman and a passionate restaurateur. According to the post, she treated Tacos Delta as a second home, welcomed her customers with a warm smile, and always aimed to create a familial atmosphere. Valdivia’s daughter, Irma Gonzalez, disclosed to The Eastsider that her mother had recently left their dog at a groomer, and the family was planning a trip to Valdivia’s hometown in Mexico.
