    Woman Airlifted Following Multi-Vehicle Collision In Hesperia

    Hesperia, CA (August 13, 2024) A serious multi-vehicle accident took place near Maple Elementary School in Hesperia on Tuesday morning, August 13th, 2024. One woman was airlifted with critical injuries, according to reports. It happened at the intersection of Mauna Loa Street and Maple Avenue right around 7:00 a.m.

    A silver Toyota Camry, a white Chevrolet Tahoe and a green GMC Yukon were all driving near Maple Elementary School in Hesperia on Tuesday morning. It was mere minutes before 7 o’clock as the three vehicles reached the intersection. For reasons that are still unclear. the three entered the intersection at the same time, causing a massive collision, reports indicated. According to photos taken at the scene, the green Yukon sustained major front-end damage and the entire front of the Camry was destroyed. The accident blocked the intersection and caused traffic issues in the area, reports indicated.

    The San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the vehicles in the middle of the intersection. Paramedics found the driver of the Camry trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters used special tools to remove the driver’s side door and remove the woman. Reports indicated that she was in and out of consciousness following the accident. Paramedics called for a medical helicopter to come to the scene. It quickly transported the woman, who was in critical condition, to Desert Valley Hospital to receive emergency treatment. She had emergency surgery for a broken wrist and hip immediately after arriving at the hospital.

    Officers were forced to close the intersection, causing major traffic issues in the area. Detectives spoke with witnesses, as well as those involved in the collision, and gathered evidence from the scene. They are determined to piece together what exactly happened at this intersection near Maple Elementary School in Hesperia. They are also working to figure out who was responsible.
