2 Died, 3 Others Injured In Madera County DUI Crash

Madera County, CA (October 28, 2023) A Friday night drive ended in a collision, killing two women and injuring 3 others. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the area of Highway 152 and Highway 99 in Madera County.

A 19-year-old girl woman was driving the vehicle at a high speed when she lost control of the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. The car swerved across multiple lanes of the highway and hit the embankment before crashing into a light pole on the side of the road. The vehicle then overturned before coming to a stop on the side of the highway.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the call. Upon arrival, they found the car upside down on the side of the road. They hurried to provide medical assistance, but found the 19-year-old driver and a passenger in the car to both be unresponsive. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people in the car sustained injuries in the deadly collision. They were transported to local hospitals via ambulances to receive treatment for their injuries.

The California Highway Patrol reported that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and the 19-year-old driver had been driving under the influence. Officers had to close northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Highway 152 to clear the scene.
