At Least 1 Injured, Ryan Johnson Arrested In San Luis Obispo Crash

Two injured and one arrested in South Lake Tahoe collision.

San Luis Obispo, CA (December 29, 2023) At least one person was injured in a crash on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo on December 26th. Wrong-way driver, Ryan Johnson, 47, was arrested following the crash that involved 3 vehicles. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. not far from Broad Street.

It happened on southbound Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo when a wrong-way driver, identified as Ryan Johnson, caused a 3-vehicle collision. Johnson was initially reported driving north on the southbound shoulder of Highway 101. He struck two other vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol, and then fled the scene. Johnson was found a short while later and taken into custody.

Officers reported that four people were involved in the collision, including a male, a female and two people in a pickup truck. The woman was transferred to a nearby hospital with an injury to her leg.

Johnson was charged with hit-and-run as well as driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Both are felony charges, officers said. Officers believe that Johnson was on some sort of drug at the time of the collision.

Officers are still investigating this accident. Officer Clissold is leading the investigation and is determined to find any little detail he can.
