Child Injured When DUI Driver Hits School Bus In Las Vegas

A child was injured in Las Vegas on Friday, February 16th, when a DUI driver crashed into a school bus.

Las Vegas, Nevada (February 19, 2024) Shock swept through the Clark County School District as well as the community on Friday, February 16th, when a DUI driver crashed into a school bus. Only two children were on the bus, headed to school, when the accident occurred. One of the children was injured in the collision, authorities said. The accident occurred at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Sierra Vista Drive in Las Vegas.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., a Clark County School Bus had already started picking up children on the daily bus route. On the morning of Friday, February 16th, the drive didn’t go as smoothly for the bus driver or the children. As the bus driver entered an intersection, a black car sped through, slamming into the side of the school bus. A photo of the scene following the crash showed the car wedged under the school bus.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found that one of the two children on the bus had received non-life-threatening injuries., authorities said. The children were both scared and happy to be reunited with their parents following the accident.

The driver of the car was also injured and taken to a local hospital. Officers suspect the driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Investigators are still investigating this collision to learn exactly why the car slammed into the school bus. The driver faces multiple charges, officers said.
