Sacramento, CA (December 8, 2023) 24-year-old, Darien Marcelle Demery was killed in a collision in Sacramento. DeAndre Bess, 27, was arrested for suspected DUI following the crash, authorities said. It happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Marysville Boulevard and Los Robles Boulevard in the Hagginwood area of North Sacramento.
The accident took place on November 25th, according to the Sacramento Police Department. DeAndre Bess was driving the vehicle when it crashed into a pole near the intersection. Demery was the passenger in the vehicle, according to police officers.

Emergency crews responded and found Bess injured and in need of medical attention. Demery, however, was killed in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters. Bess was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
Once he was released from the hospital, Bess was taken into custody by the Sacramento Police Department. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, officers said.
Bess now has to live with the fact that he killed his younger brother. A family member, David Demery, said, “The pain of this loss is immeasurable, and our family is grappling with the void left behind.”
