LOS ANGELES, CA (June 10, 2022) – David Cohen, 31, has been arrested after an accident for suspicion of DUI and potential manslaughter charges after killing his wife, Zeomara Cohen, and injuring his three children.
The family were on their way home from a graduation party Thursday around 11:40 p.m. when David Cohen lost control of a Lexus sedan and crashed into the embankment on the westbound side of the 118 freeway. The family were trapped inside the vehicle as a fuel line was severed and the car erupted into flames.
Four off-duty LAPD officers happened to witness the accident and were able to help and call for emergency response.
They braved the flames and rescued three children and their father. Despite the heroic effort of the officers, officials said the 31-year-old mother died at the scene.
Around the scene of the accident, three other vehicles collided with each other where two out of eight people involved were seriously injured.
We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
