Turlock, CA (October 11, 2024) A police officer sustained injuries after the patrol car they were in was struck by a DUI driver in Turlock. It happened around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, at the intersection of 1st Street and Main Street. The drunk driver, 30-year-old Ryan Crowell, was placed under arrest, officers reported.
A police vehicle was heading west on Main Street on Sunday night, October 6th, 2024, approaching an intersection. As they approached 1st Street, another vehicle began to turn onto Main from 1st. As the truck made the turn, it ended up striking the patrol car at a fairly high speed. The two vehicles sat in the middle of the intersection as emergency personnel rushed to the scene.
Flashing lights filled the night sky and sirens grew louder as authorities made their way to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the police officers with serious injuries, reports indicated. Paramedics transported the officers to a nearby hospital to receive treatment.
Officers questioned the driver of the truck, identified as 30-year-old Ryan Crowell, from Valley Springs. Reports indicated that Crowell showed signs of impairment, following the collision. He was placed under arrest at the scene and faces DUI charges.
