Fatal DUI Collision In Antelope; 18-Year-Old Arrested

1 killed, 1 arrested when DUI driver crashes into pole in Antelope.

Antelope, CA (October 15, 2024) Shock and sadness covered the community of Antelope, following a fatal accident on Monday, October 14th. An 18-year-old man was killed when the vehicle he was in collided with a pole at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle, another 18-year-old was arrested for DUI at the scene. It all happened around 6:35 p.m. on Walegra Road.

An 18-year-old man had been drinking as he got behind the wheel of his vehicle. Another 18-year-old was riding in the passenger seat as the vehicle speed through Antelope. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle changing lanes on southbound Walegra Road, when the driver lost control. It went off the road and slammed into a light pole at a high rate of speed.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the vehicle with serious front-end damage. They rushed to the vehicle, ready to help anyone inside the vehicle who was injured. Unfortunately, they found the 18-year-old passenger deceased. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The driver, also 18, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at the scene, reports indicated.
