James Brandon Slack Arrested For DUI, 1 Dead In Paradise Crash

Suspect crashes into multiple vehicles during pursuit in San Clarita

Paradise, CA (September 12, 2023) James Brandon Slack was arrested on September 10th after a DUI collision. The Paradise Police Department said that it occurred around 4:43 p.m. in the 9000 block of Skyway.

Authorities arrived and found 2 vehicles had collided and were blocking both lanes of traffic. They had to close Skyway for approximately 2 hours, according to the Paradise Police Department.

An investigation revealed that a 47-year-old Magalia resident, identified as James Brandon Slack, was traveling east on Skyway when he drifted into oncoming traffic. He collided head-on with an 83-year-old female from Paradise.

Both drivers were injured in the collision and sent to a local hospital. Officers questioned Slack and learned that he had been drinking and watching football prior to the collision. He was arrested on suspicion of felony violation of driving under the influence and causing great bodily influence.

The 83-year-old woman died from her injuries around 9:30 that night. As a result of her death, Slack will be prosecuted for additional felonies, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
