Jessica Talamante and Brian McKee killed by Tayishe Baltys in DUI crash in National City

NATIONAL CITY, CA (June 24, 2022) – Jessica Talamante, 15, and Brian McKee, 38, were killed by DUI driver Tayishe Baltys, 43, in National City Wednesday night.

NBC San Diego reports that Talamante and her stepfather McKee were crossing the street at East Plaza Boulevard and Harbison Avenue around 10:20 p.m. when Baltys struck and killed the two on the road.

Jessica Talamante was pronounced dead at the scene, while McKee was taken to Scripps Mercy hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Aliyah Arroyo, Talamante’s 20-year-old sister, was also crossing the street with the pair, but survived the collision.

Baltys appeared to be drunk to police officers and was arrested as she remained on the scene. She is being charged with DUI resulting in bodily injury, two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter.

Kristen White, Talamante’s mother and the boyfriend of Brian McKee, said that Jessica was going to turn 16 on July 6.

“My daughter was such a good girl. She was happy, she was innocent. She was like my best friend, too,” White said.
