Riverside, CA (September 18, 2023) Joanna Huizar was killed in a collision in Riverside, according to the Riverside Police Department. The fatal accident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday, September 13th.
Huizar, 22, was a passenger in a vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old male. Riverside Police Department Spokesperson Ryan J. Railsback said they arrived at the intersection of John Street and Victoria Avenue to find that the car had crashed into a tree.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, had driven in the wrong direction and failed to take a curve in the street. He lost control and crashed into a palm tree that was in the center median. The driver was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Huizar, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers believe the 23-year-old driver was driving while under the influence of alcohol during the crash.
