MORENO VALLEY, CA (October 24, 2022) – A head-on collision that killed 62-year-old Michael Wilson in a Moreno Valley accident was likely the result of the other driver losing control while driving under the influence, authorities said today.
Michael Wilson of San Jacinto was fatally injured in the crash shortly before 7 p.m. Friday on Reche Vista Drive, just north of Hill Court, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Javier Navarro said that Wilson was at the wheel of a 2013 Toyota Camry going southbound when he encountered a 2022 Camry coming from the opposite direction at an unknown speed.

“The driver of the newer Toyota allowed the vehicle to cross the painted solid double yellow lines into the path of the other Toyota (driven by the victim), and a head-on crash occurred between the two vehicles,” Navarro said.
County fire paramedics reached the location a short time later and pronounced Wilson dead at the scene.
The other driver, identified only as a Moreno Valley man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment.
“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision,” Navarro said.
The suspect was not taken into custody at the hospital, and it was unclear whether his arrest was pending.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP’s Riverside office at 951-637-8000.
