Madera, CA (September 20, 2023) A pickup crashed into a building in Madera on Tuesday morning around 7:30 a.m., according to the Madera Police Department. Reports said the vehicle hit an American flag during the crash as well, bringing it “right to the ground.”
The collision happened at Williams Avenue and Howard Road. Police officers said that pickup first hit a parked car on Yosemite and then hit a moving vehicle before it crashed into a commercial building a few blocks away.

The building was empty at the time of the collision, according to Madera Police Department Sergeant Felix Gonzalez. The driver of the pickup received cuts on his head, face, and hand and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No one else was injured in this collision, although the driver did cause a significant amount of damage to other vehicles and the building.
Officers said the man’s driver’s license had been previously suspended for DUI as well. He faces multiple charges including hit-and-run, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
