Santa Rosa, CA (October 8, 2024) A man caused multiple road-rage crashes on Saturday around 2 p.m., one of which led to the tragic death of a mother of a 3-year-old and left multiple people injured.
California Highway Patrol reported that a driver in a Mazda SUV intentionally rammed a Volkswagen on Stony Point Road. This pushed the car into oncoming traffic, where a Mercedes hit it.
A mother, her 3-year-old, and a 30-year-old male driver in the Volkswagen suffered major injuries. The mother was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the man and the child were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Update (10/14): The victim has been identified as Carena Lashey Piccinotti.
The Mercedes driver and her passenger, 20 and 21, were also taken to a local hospital.
The Mazda driver left the scene and rammed into another car multiple times on the 101. Officers arrested the driver after heading to the scene around 2:16 p.m. He was apparently under the influence, and he was booked on suspicion of murder, felony DUI and assault with a deadly weapon.
