Fresno, CA (May 14, 2024) A collision injured several people in Fresno on Thursday night, May 9th. The two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 99, not far from Olive Avenue and was said to be caused by a drunk driver, according to reports.
Reports indicated that a Toyota MR2 was driving along Highway 99 on a dark, California night. At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was driving along Highway 99. For reasons that are still unknown, the two vehicles collided in the middle of the highway. Tires squealed and metal collided as the sounds of two cars crashing echoed through the area. The California Highway Patrol received the 911 call and hurried to the scene, their sirens blaring and lights flashing through the darkness.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the two vehicles with significant damage in the middle of the highway. An unknown number of people were inside the Toyota Tacoma and paramedics found them all with injuries following the accident. The driver of the MR2 was also found with serious injuries. They were all taken to local hospitals to receive treatment for a wide variety of injuries.
Officers investigated the scene following the collision and believe that alcohol was a factor in this two-vehicle collision on Highway 99. No arrests have been made at this time, but the investigation is ongoing, according to officers. Two trucks were called to the scene to haul the two damaged vehicles from the highway and crews worked to clear debris and glass from the roadway.
