SOLANO COUNTY, CA (September 16, 2022) – Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured after being struck by a suspected DUI driver in Solano County.
The accident occurred Sunday around 2 a.m. when the officers were standing outside their vehicle on the shoulder of westbound I-80 after performing a traffic stop. ABC News reports that an SUV began to approach the officers just east of American Canyon Road.
The SUV struck the patrol car, which then struck the two officers. Both officers were taken to the hospital–one was released Sunday morning while another was listed in stable condition after suffering major injuries.
The driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The driver that was pulled over by the two CHP officers was not injured.
