Chollas Creek, CA (August 12, 2024) Early on Friday morning, August 9th, a motorcycle collided with a big rig in Chollas Creek. The motorcyclist was left with life-threatening injuries, officers reported. It all happened on 54th Street at approximately 5:45 a.m.
A 23-year-old man was riding a 2015 MV Dragster 800 RR motorcycle on Friday morning. He was headed north on 54th Street as a big rig hauling a cargo trailer was pulling out of a parking lot. Reports indicated that the big rig pulled out directly in the motorcyclist’s path in the 3800 block of 54th Street. The motorcyclist had no time to react and slammed into the big rig. He was aggressively thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the ground with life-threatening injuries.
Officers with the San Diego Police Department arrived at the scene and found the rider on the ground. The motorcycle was laying on the ground several feet away, in a dented heap of metal and tires. Paramedics arrived at the scene and discovered that the rider was suffering from several broken bones and life-threatening internal injuries, according to reports. He was rushed to a nearby trauma center where he remains in critical condition.
Detectives quickly worked to gather evidence at the scene. They are working to determine what exactly happened on 54th Street in the early morning hours that day. The motorcycle had to be hauled from the scene on a flatbed trailer, reports indicated.
