Las Vegas, NV (April 21, 2024) A collision in east Las Vegas on Friday night, April 19th, left five people with injuries, according to police officers. The collision happened near the intersection of Sloan Lane and Charleston Boulevard at approximately 8:24 p.m. It happened between a motorcycle and a Jeep Grand Cherokee, reports indicated.
A 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading west on Charleston Boulevard in east Las Vegas on Friday night. At the same time, a 2104 Jeep Grand Cherokee made a U-Turn on the same road. The Jeep Grand Cherokee had a green light, but failed to yield for the motorcycle. The motorcycle had no time to react and the front of the bike hit the Jeep’s right side.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles with major damage in the middle of the road. Paramedics rushed to give medical aid and found the motorcyclist lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition.
A 13-year-old boy was riding on the motorcycle as a passenger, and luckily only sustained minor injuries in the collision. He was taken to University Medical Center by ambulance to receive treatment.
The Jeep had three occupants who were all injured in the crash. Two occupants sustained minor injuries in the collision, but the rear-seat passengers was taken to Sunrise Hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
Officers do not think speed of intoxication are factors in this collision. They are investigating to try and understand exactly what happened to cause this collision in east Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section is leading this investigation.
