Los Osos, CA (June 15, 2024) A hit-and-run accident occurred in Los Osos on Thursday evening, June 13th, leaving one person with serious injuries. A 35-year-old man was riding a Honda Elite scooter along Los Osos Valley Road, near Sunset Drive, when he was hit. The collision happened around 8:45 p.m. and the driver immediately fled the scene, according to reports.
A man was riding a scooter, headed east, on Friday evening on Los Osos Valley Road. A Hyundai Elantra left a parking lot and crossed the roadway, heading north, turning into the scooter’s path. The vehicle struck the scooter, throwing the man from the ride, reports indicated. The man landed on the roadway with serious injuries and the scooter was destroyed. The driver of the Hyundai didn’t stop after hitting the scooter, instead, he fled the scene, heading west.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the man on the ground with serious injuries. The scooter was several feet from him, damaged and dented from the collision. However, the vehicle responsible was nowhere to be seen. Paramedics hurried to the victim’s side and quickly loaded him into an ambulance and transported him to a local hospital to receive emergency medical care for his injuries.
Detectives investigated the scene and are determined to find the vehicle responsible for this hit-and-run collision in Los Osos. Officers with the CHP are asking anyone with information to contact them at 805-594-8700. Once the investigation at the scene was complete, the scooter was removed from the scene by a flatbed truck and traffic resumed.
