San Diego, CA (February 19, 2024) A motorcyclist was riding through the Hillcrest neighborhood in San Diego this morning when he was suddenly struck by a pickup truck. It was right around 6:30 a.m. when the pickup tried to make a left turn as the 44-year-old motorcyclist rode along Sixth Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The motorcyclist was riding at 3800 Sixth Avenue near a parking garage. At the same time, a 2018 F-150 that was traveling north on Sixth Avenue. Without warning, the pickup started to make a left turn into the parking garage, but didn’t yield for the motorcycle. The motorcycle slammed into the pickup, throwing the rider from the bike, officers reported.
The San Diego Police Department arrived with paramedics and found the motorcyclist on the ground with several fractures. The motorcycle was also laying on the ground in a smashed heap. They carefully loaded the motorcyclist into the ambulance and transported them to a local hospital for treatment.
The 31-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The motorcycle had to be hauled from the scene and investigators searched for evidence as police officers spoke with the driver of the pickup.
