Gilroy, CA (August 12, 2024) A traumatic and fatal collision occurred in Gilroy on Thursday, August 8th, claiming a motorcyclist’s life. The accident took place at the intersection of Murray Avenue and Gavilan Court, at approximately 6:45 p.m. Two other people were injured in this car vs. motorcycle accident.
It was the evening of August 4th, as a motorcycle headed through the town of Gilroy. As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Murray Avenue and Gavilan Court, a car approached as well. Suddenly, the two collided at the intersection. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and landed on the roadway, rolling several times before finally coming to a stop. The vehicle involved stopped at the scene and waited for authorities. The driver and the passenger in the car were both injured, officers reported.
The Gilroy Police Department arrived at the scene within minutes and found the motorcyclist on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Officers immediately began giving the victim life-saving treatment, right there in the middle of the intersection. Sadly, their efforts weren’t enough to save the victim, who’s injuries were too severe. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger inside the vehicle were found with injuries as well, according to reports. Paramedics transported them both to a local hospital to receive treatment. Officers reported that one of them had sustained only minor injuries in the collision, while the other had suffered major injuries.
Officers wasted no time investigating the scene. They continue to work in an effort to understand what happened at this Gilroy intersection to cause this fatal accident.
