Santa Ana, CA (April 10, 2024) A tragic accident claimed the life of 44-year-old motorcyclist Flor Mecan Granados on Tuesday night in Santa Ana. It all happened around 11:00 p.m. on Bristol Street at the intersection of Central Avenue, when a vehicle collided with the motorcycle, according to police officers. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and, sadly, died at the hospital.
At 11:00 p.m., it is dark, which means drivers must pay extra attention. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, Granados was heading north on Bristol Street towards Central Avenue. As the rider approached Central Avenue, a 2024 Mazda attempted to turn East onto Central Avenue and hit the motorcycle. The impact threw Granados from the motorcycle, where he landed hard on the ground. The motorcycle slid several feet before coming to a stop in a damaged heap.
The Santa Ana Police Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist on the ground with life-threatening injuries. They carefully, but quickly, loaded the rider into an ambulance and rushed them to a local hospital to receive treatment. Emergency medical personnel did everything they could, but the rider’s injuries were too severe, and they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities following the collision. Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this accident. This investigation is ongoing as officers try to determine exactly what caused this fatal accident on Bristol Street.
