FULLERTON, CA (August 17, 2022) – A 46-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Fullerton today.
Fullerton Police Department officers were called about 11:40 a.m. to the 2200 block of East Orangethorpe Avenue, near the Orange (57) Freeway, on reports of the collision and found the man lying in the street with “significant, life-threatening injuries,” according to Capt. Jon Radus, the department’s public information officer.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the second vehicle — a 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup truck — that was involved in the collision was located in a nearby parking lot and cooperated with the investigation into the collision.
Police determined the motorcyclist was riding his 2004 Honda motorcycle southbound on East Orangethorpe Avenue “at a high rate of speed” when he struck the rear passenger side of the Maverick as the truck was turning into the parking lot. It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call Fullerton Police Department accident investigator J. Feaster at 714-738-6812.

Liability In Fullerton Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcyclists have a naturally small profile and are more likely to be overlooked by other drivers. Many collisions are due to drivers that make dangerous lane changes. According to California Vehicle Code 22107, “No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement.” There are a number of factors that could potentially contribute to a motorcycle accident including:
- Speeding
- Drunk driving
- Driver distraction
- Inclement weather
The family of any victim that died in a motorcycle accident may be able to seek aid through a wrongful death claim. Damages can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with civil claims. Failing to act within the statute of limitations may result in a permanent forfeiture of your rights.
