Tracy, CA (April 14, 2024) Sadness blanketed the community of Tracy following a traumatic motorcycle collision that claimed one person’s life. The accident took place on Patterson Pass Road, near Interstate 580, around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where, sadly, they later died.
A motorcyclist was heading north on Patterson Pass Road on Thursday, as a sedan headed south and approached the rider. Suddenly, the driver of the sedan turned the wheel to make a U-Turn in the middle of the roadway. The sedan went over the center divider of the road and finished the U-turn directly in front of the motorcycle. Reports indicated that the motorcyclist tried to avoid the sedan, but there wasn’t enough time.
Unable to avoid the sedan, the motorcycle crashed into the right front of the vehicle. The force from the impact caused the motorcycle to flip, authorities said. The rider, said to be about 60 years old, was thrown from the motorcycle as it overturned. The motorcyclist landed hard on the pavement of the road and rolled a few times before finally stopping.
The California Highway Patrol received the call and hurried to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the motorcyclist lying on the road with life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle was smashed and nearly destroyed, lying several feet from the rider. Paramedics at the scene placed the motorcyclist on a gurney and rushed them to San Joaquin General Hospital. The emergency staff did everything they could, but the rider’s injuries were too critical and, unfortunately, they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in this fatal accident. They are trying to determine why the sedan made a U-turn in the motorcyclist’s path, though. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact the Tracy Area California Highway Patrol.
