San Diego, CA (October 20, 2024) The community of Ocean Beach in San Diego was the location of a motorcycle accident on Saturday evening, October 19th, that left the rider with serious injuries. It happened around 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Del Monte Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.
Initial reports indicated that the motorcyclist, 20, was riding a Harley Davidson and began driving north in the southbound lanes. Officers reported that the rider did this to get around traffic that had backed up. As the rider did this, a Honda CRV was stopped at a stop sign on El Monte Avenue at the intersection of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. After stopping, the Honda continued, heading east. As it proceeded through the intersection, the motorcycle collided with the Honda.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the middle of the busy intersection. The San Diego Police Department arrived and found the rider with a dislocated right elbow, a broken left femur and lacerations. The rider was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for these injuries.
