Las Vegas, NV (May 20, 2024) A tragic accident has left a motorcyclist in critical condition, according to police reports. The motorcyclist was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of West Bromley Avenue and North Jones Boulevard on Friday morning, just after 11:00 a.m. The motorcyclist continues to cling to life, according to reports.
It was just after 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, as vehicles drove through north Las Vegas. A 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was driving north in the right travel lane of Jones Boulevard, near West Bromley Avenue. At the same time, a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 was also heading north on Jones Boulevard. The Chevy pickup began to slow down to make a right turn, but the motorcycle, riding behind it in the same lane, continued at the same speed. The motorcyclist suddenly seemed to realize that the pickup was slowing down and tried to make an abrupt stop. Unfortunately, this made the motorcycle overturn onto its right side. The motorcycle then slid into the passenger side of the pickup, reports indicated.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the motorcycle on the ground, as well as the rider. Paramedics rushed to the rider’s side and discovered that they had sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. They were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment, where they remain in critical condition, according to reports. The driver of the pickup truck remained that the scene and cooperated with authorities following the accident.
Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is leading this investigation. They are determined to figure out exactly what caused the motorcyclist to not realize the pickup was slowing down until it was too late. The motorcycle had to be hauled from the scene following the investigation.
