Oakland, CA (July 9, 2023) A tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Oakland early Saturday morning. A vehicle suddenly struck a person on a motorcycle at about 3:20 a.m.
California Highway Patrol has not yet provided details about the vehicle that hit the motorcyclist, but the impact caused the rider to fly off the bike and into the fourth lane of Interstate 580. The crash happened near the Fruitvale Avenue exit.
To make matters worse, a Royal ambulance driving in the fourth lane struck the motorcycle rider. When authorities reported to the scene, they pronounced the victim dead. It’s unclear if anyone else was injured.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing. It is unclear if drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, speeding, or other factors were involved in this sad collision.
The identity of the victim has not been made public at this time.
