San Diego, CA (September 4, 2024) A collision involving a scooter and another vehicle occurred in San Diego on Tuesday afternoon, leaving one with injuries. The collision occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Mission Gorge Road, in the Grantville neighborhood, according to reports.
Initial reports indicated that a 39-year-old man was riding a scooter in the 6000 block of Mission Gorge Road. The San Diego Police Department stated that the man was riding on the east sidewalk, heading south. An Acura MDX, driven by a 65-year-old woman, was driving west through a nearby parking lot. For reasons that remain unknown, the scooter struck the vehicle’s front passenger bumper and fender.

Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found the scooter rider on the ground. He had sustained an open fracture to his left tibia/fibula during the accident. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, via ambulance, to receive treatment. However, officers reported that the man’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The woman driving the Acura was left uninjured, according to reports.
Officers with the Sand Diego Policed Department Traffic Division are working to determine what exactly occurred on Mission Gorge Road that afternoon, as well as who was at fault for this accident.
