1 killed in 15 Freeway pedestrian Hit-and-Run

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on the 15 Freeway.

HALLORAN SPRINGS, CA (NOVEMBER 14, 2023): A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle on the 15 Freeway in Halloran Springs last week.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crashed occurred on Friday, November 10th around 9:49 p.m., just after the Halloran Springs exit of the 15 Freeway. Reports indicate that a black Dodge Caravan was speeding as it attempted to pass a semi-tractor trailer and a second vehicle on the right shoulder of the freeway. As the Dodge passed the semi-truck, it also struck a pedestrian walking northbound on the freeway.

After impacting the pedestrian, the vehicle did not stop and continued on the freeway.

A bystander witnessed the hit-and-run and contacted the CHP dispatch.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene shortly after the collision, and discovered the pedestrian in critical condition. Paramedics attempted to administer first aid, but unfortunately the victim could not be saved. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol authorities were able to locate the Dodge vehicle miles up the freeway. It had sustained major front-end damage.

The identity of the deceased remains undisclosed. It is unclear what charges are pending on the motorist of the Dodge vehicle. Their identity has not been released as of yet.

The California Highway Patrol will investigate this pedestrian hit-and-run on the 15 Freeway.
