2 in critical condition after Wilmington hit-and-run

Two people are in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, CA (NOVEMBER 15, 2023): Two pedestrians are in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Wilmington early Wednesday.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 15th at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Island Avenue. Reports indicate the two victims were hit while walking in the area at around 1 a.m. It is unclear what caused this collision.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

Authorities received reports of a pedestrian accident, and arrived in the area shortly after. Upon arrival, two people were discovered in critical condition. Paramedics treated the victims on-site, and they were then rushed to an area hospital for further treatment. The exact injuries they sustained and their current condition has not been released as of yet.

It is unknown if the pedestrians were in the crosswalk during the collision.

Although a formal description of the hit-and-run vehicle was not made immediately available, witnesses state they saw a white sedan strike the two pedestrians without stopping to render aid or identify themselves.

Authorities will continue to investigate this tragic hit-and-run in Wilmington.
