58-year-old Felipe Avila was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Victorville.

VICTORVILLE, CA (NOVEMBER 9, 2023): 58-year-old Felipe Avila was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on a street in Victorville on Wednesday.

According to the Victorville Fire Department, the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 9th around 8:13 p.m. on Amargosa Road, between Mesa Street and Gabriel Road. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area soon after, including the VFD. Upon their arrival, they discovered Avila lying on the roadway of Amargosa in critical condition. Paramedics attempted first aid, but unfortunately Avila succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional authorities from the Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team arrived on scene to investigate the incident further. They determined Avila was struck by a full-size pickup truck traveling southbound, and that the vehicle likely sustained damage to the passenger side of the rearview mirror.

Amargosa Road was closed for several hours following the collision. The motorist responsible for this accident has not yet been found.

The Victorville Police Department will continue to investigate this tragic hit-and-run that killed Felipe Avila.
