TEMECULA, CA (NOVEMBER 9, 2023): A senior man was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in Rainbow, a rural community of Temecula.
The accident occurred on Thursday, November 9 around noon on Rainbow Canyon Road just north of Rainbow Valley Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. California Highway Patrol officer Mike Lassing reported that the man was walking along the shoulder of the narrow two-lane Boulevard when he was struck by a “higher-profile vehicle, such as a raised pickup truck, SUV or van.” The circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear.

The vehicle fled the scene.
Reports indicate the impact of the collision caused the man to be thrown into the brush. He was discovered by witnesses sometime after the crash.
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. He has only been described as a Hispanic man in his late 60’s.
A description of the vehicle has not been made available. The California Highway Patrol will continue to investigate this Temecula hit-and-run.
