73-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck & Injured In San Diego

Three pedestrians injured in Sacramento hit-and-run.

San Diego, CA (November 1, 2023) A 73-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and injured in Shelltown on October 31st, according to the San Diego Police Department. Officer John Buttle told City News Service that the accident happened on Gamma Street around 6:43 p.m.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian was crossing 43rd Street from west to east on the north side of Gamma Street when he was struck by a 1998 Toyota Camry. The driver was a 74-year-old woman who struck the man, accidentally, in the 1600 block of South 43rd Street. Officer John Buttle reported that the woman drove across the intersection and struck the man just north of the intersection.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the man lying in the roadway, injured. Paramedics arrived and took the man to a local hospital to receive treatment  for non-life-threatening injuries. According to medical personnel, he sustained a fractured pelvis, multiple facial fractures and a brain bleed in the collision.

The woman driving the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is leading the investigation for this collision. Their goal is to determine what exactly happened to cause the pedestrian to be struck in the Selltown area of San Diego on October 31st.
