ROHNERT PARK, CA (July 5, 2022) – An 82-year-old man was struck and killed while attempting to cross Rohnert Park Expressway on Friday according to NBC Bay Area.
The accident occurred east of San Simeon Drive at around noon when Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Lt. Kelly Koffler says their department received numerous 911 calls reporting the crash. When emergency response crews arrived, the man was found lying on the ground.
Officers say that the elderly man was walking southbound on Rohnert Park Expressway across a median when he attempted to cross the road. A Ford sedan heading eastbound struck the man, who was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk according to witnesses.
The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with officers investigating the incident. Drugs or alcohol were not determined to be factors in this case.
The crash and subsequent investigation caused Rohnert Park Expressway and San Simeon Drive to be closed for three hours.
