SANTA MONICA, CA (June 22, 2022) – Armando Hernandez, 21, was struck and killed by a motorcyclist on the 10 freeway in Santa Monica.

CBS News reports that Hernandez was on the road around 3:30 a.m. when the motorcyclist struck him near the Cloverfield Boulevard on-ramp. It is unclear why he would have been walking on the freeway at the time of the crash. California Highway Patrol officers say Armando Hernandez was attempting to cross the freeway on foot.
Officers say that other drivers may have hit the body as well, and those drivers remained on the scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with major injuries, although his current condition is unknown at this time.
Santa Monica Police officers are also aiding in the investigation.
The crash caused all lanes to be closed for about an hour as officers issued a SigAlert.
