San Mateo, CA (December 14, 2023) 30-year-old Christian ChavezLainez from Redwood City was arrested for a hit-and-run that left two pedestrians injured. The hit-and-run happened on December 12th just before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Hillsdale Boulevard and Edison Street, the San Mateo Police Department said.
Initial reports indicate that the two pedestrians were walking within a designated crosswalk when they were hit by a black Toyota Corolla. The driver fled the scene, leaving the two injured pedestrians lying in the roadway.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the two pedestrians injured but conscious. They received medical attention from paramedics at the scene and then provided police officers with a photo they had thought to snap of the vehicle that had hit them. There were also several witnesses at the scene that described the vehicle and the driver, officers said.
On December 13th, officers found the Toyota that was believed to be the one involved in this pedestrian accident. The vehicle was located in Belmont and ChavesLainez was inside the residence. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for a felony hit-and-run.
The two pedestrians who were hit in this accident are expected to make a full recovery. Their information and forethought to get a photo of the vehicle were key factors in this investigation.
