SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 15, 2022) – Eduardo Trujillo, 33, was killed on July 28 after being struck by more than one hit-and-run driver in South Central L.A.
The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when witnesses saw Trujillo lying in the street on Vernon and Towne avenues. As they attempted to help the man off the street, he was struck by a dark pickup truck that did not stop. Moments later, another vehicle struck Trujillo and also did not stop.
KTLA News reports that police pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police initially treated Trujillo’s death as a homicide after discovering two holes in his body. However, these were later ruled out as being caused by bullets or a knife stabbing.
The manner of his death was changed from homicide to accidental.
Authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the two drivers that struck Eduardo Trujillo.

Liability In Los Angeles Pedestrian Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in pedestrian accidents. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “An estimated 137,000 pedestrians were treated in emergency departments for nonfatal crash-related injuries in 2017. Per trip, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to be killed in a car crash.” There are a number of factors that could lead to a pedestrian collision including:
- Speeding

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. The family of any victim that died in a pedestrian collision may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
