Bakersfield, CA (January 12, 2024) Gloria Provencio, 79, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Bakersfield, authorities reported. The fatal accident took place in the 3800 block of Stockdale Highway, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on January 10th.
Provencio was walking on Stockdale Highway when a vehicle, heading west, struck her near Real Road, according to authorities. The driver of the car didn’t stop to help Provencio or to call 911. Instead, it continued driving down the road until it was out of sight. Provencio was left alone, with life-threatening injuries, on the highway.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, ready to give aid, they found Provencio lying on the ground with very serious injuries. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the scene with emergency personnel at her side.
The Bakersfield Police Department is leading the investigation into this fatal hit-and-run accident. They hope to find the suspect responsible for Provencio’s death and bring them to justice.
