Hemet, CA (April 23, 2024) A tragic pedestrian accident took place in Hemet, claiming the life of 64-year-old Janet Goldenstein. Initial reports indicated that Goledenstein was walking on North State Street when she was hit by a vehicle on Thursday, April 18th, just before midnight, according to the Hemet Police Department.
Goldenstein was walking in the 300 block of North State Street, near Oakland Avenue, as a vehicle approached her from the south. Just before midnight, the vehicle struck Goldenstein as she walked. The force from the impact threw her into the street, where she remained, motionless. The driver immediately stopped and called 911, reports indicated.
The Hemet Police Department hurried to the scene and found Goldenstein lying on the roadway. Paramedics rushed to give her life-saving treatment, but their efforts were wasted. Goldenstein’s injuries were too severe and she succumbed to them as she laid in the roadway with emergency personnel around her. Sadly, officials pronounced her dead at the scene and called the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
The driver of the vehicle was shaken, but uninjured. They cooperated with police officers during their investigation Officers are working to determine what caused this fatal accident in Hemet. The investigation is being led by the Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Bureau and anyone who has information regarding this accident is asked to contact the police.
