SANTA ANA, CA (June 7, 2022) – Lucia Rodriguez Lopez, 36, of Santa Ana, was tragically killed when she was struck by a car while she was walking with her husband. The OC Register reports that her husband was also seriously injured in the accident.
The accident occurred on Saturday, June 4, around 8:30 p.m. on the 4700 block of 1st Street.
Lopez and her husband were both crossing the street when they were struck by a car traveling west on 1st Street.
Lucia Rodriguez Lopez was pronounced dead on the scene, and her husband was hospitalized for the treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the car stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. Santa Ana police officials don’t believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in this accident.
SAPD is still investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash, and anyone with information on the accident are encouraged to come forward with additional details.
