Oakland, CA (September 11, 2023) A man died on Sunday morning after he was hit by a vehicle while walking. Authorities said that man, age 27, was first hit by a stray bullet in the area before he was hit by a car.
The man’s name has yet to be released, but officers say he is an Oakland resident. The stray bullet hit him around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday in the area of Webster Street and 14th Street. Police officers said he was walking in the area when a gun battle erupted between at least two other people. It resulted in multiple shots being fired and the 27-year-old pedestrian was hit by one.

He was then hit by a car in the 300 block of 14th Street, according to authorities. The driver who hit him, got out of his car, and fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind.
Witnesses in the area tried to help the man before police officers arrived. He was transported to a local hospital but later died. The events of the early morning were crazy and authorities are still trying to decipher what exactly happened.
